Meet the Swim Squad

Every swimmer is different. Some are excited to jump right in, while others need a little more time to feel comfortable. The Swim Squad is made up of different personalities, experiences, and ways of approaching something new.

Maybe you'll even see a little bit of yourself in one of them.

Finn - The New Swimmer

Finn is the newest member of the Swim Squad. He’s curious and observant, but when he enters an unfamiliar swimming environment, he isn’t quite sure what to expect. He may hang back at first, watching and taking everything in before he feels ready to join.

Finn represents the child who might be thinking, “I’m nervous, but I’ll try.” His story isn’t about suddenly becoming fearless. It’s about discovering that being nervous and being brave can happen at the same time. With encouragement, friendship, and a little patience, Finn gradually becomes comfortable enough to give something new a try.

Percy - The Encouraging Friend

Percy is a cheerful, goofy fellow swimmer and one of Finn’s first new friends. He’s enthusiastic, playful, and much more comfortable in the swimming environment than Finn is.

Percy represents the teammate who says, “Come on, this is fun!” He helps Finn discover this unfamiliar world without making him feel bad for being nervous or unsure. Percy can be a little silly and distractible, but underneath the humor is a genuinely supportive friend who wants everyone to feel like they belong.

Coach Terri - The Reassuring Coach

Coach Terri is the patient, encouraging presence who helps hold the Swim Squad together. She’s the coach and authority figure, but she is never meant to feel intimidating. She creates an environment where young swimmers can ask questions, make mistakes, learn at their own pace, and feel safe enough to try.

Her message is essentially, “I believe in you.” Coach Terri helps young swimmers understand that learning something new takes courage, patience, and a willingness to try. She doesn’t push Finn into being ready, she helps him become ready.
